Friday

Today we went and visited our old Kitchen Manager from K6/36. Jeff and Amy have a beautiful house, and lovely daughters. We had a great visit with them, and it was so good to see them again.

Then we went back to Gulfport and stayed at the "Ghetto-tel" otherwise known as "Days Inn" that some of our co-workers stayed at last fall. The rooms haven't changed much, and we were overcharged for what we got, but it was a place to sleep.

Thursday

This is a good day to tell you all about the trailer we got to stay in this week. Our friends were working on their house, and their FEMA trailer was sitting empty, so they let us stay in it this week.

What a blessing that was, it saved us a lot of money, and we were near WalMart and right in Ocean Springs, so we didn't have far to go to visit with our friends.
We also visited our dear sweet 90 year old friend Georgia. She is still as spry and sharp as always. She was busy in her yard, tidying up. She is a sweetheart and we love her to death..

We also went back and said goodbye to Herb and Lois, and of course Annabelle.. they are all so sweet, and their pup is as wide as she is long, and full of love!!

And of COURSE Herb helped us Northern Girls find an alligator!!

Wednesday

Today we decided to go for a drive to Waveland, MS to see if there were any changes. It was bittersweet. There are changes, the debris piles are cleaned up and slabs are cleaned off, but there isn't much in the way of new construction going on yet. But there will be.. it is going to take time is all.

We stopped on the way back through to visit our dear friends Dave and Anne. They are doing well, and her gardens are beautiful. They even had a whole page spread about her gardens in the Sun Herald newspaper. As usual, their hospitality was superb, and we had a wonderful visit with them.

Tuesday

Ok, so these posts are all going to be posted on the same day. We didn't have internet access the whole time we were down here, but we kept something of a written diary, so we are going to update them all now. We are waiting in the New Orleans airport for our flight, and we have internet access NOW.. go figure..

Tuesday
What a whirl wind adventure we are having!! Visited some of the absolutely wonderful people in Ocean Springs.. We didn’t realize how much we were longing for the area until we came into town and had a feeling of being "home".
We drove my old route. What an uplifting experience to see the progress that has been made in most of the area. Yes, there is a long ways to go, but the amount of rebuilding and remodeling that has been done was surprising to us. We got to see Herb and Lois and Annabelle. Their gardens will take your breath away. And Hal, their wacky neighbor that I adore, came over for a visit. It was so great to see him again, he always made me laugh when I came down the street with his antics. Usually he was hanging from a tree and making fun of women drivers..
I got to visit the Delgado’s. They were so shocked to see us knocking on their door, we loved to see the faces of people as they realized that when we said we would be back, we MEANT IT! We are true to our word!
One of the couple’s that we dropped in on were busy remodeling their house. They weren’t using their FEMA trailer this week b
We got to meet up with a wonderful couple, Herb and Lois. They took us out for a great dinner at Aunt Jenny’s Catfish house. I couldn’t decide between the catfish or the shrimp, so I had both, and enjoyed every single bite of it!!

Monday, and here we are!

Arrived in New Orleans without any complications.. well except for the fact that there were no compact rental cars left.. but that all turned out for the best, she said "go pick any of those cars over there" in the mid size lot, so we ended up with a nice shiny red Monte Carlo!!

And we have no place to stay, and ended up with a Fema trailer.. that is a story on it's own we will go into later :)

So New Orleans decided it was a good night to have Monday night Football in town when we got there.. so the town was hopping!!!
So the Saints spanked the Falcons, and we got the heck out of dodge before the party began, but NOT before we got our beignet fix!!! Gotta love them little sugary bites of heaven :)

More adventures later, we have a dinner date with some of the wonderful people we had the pleasure of feeding last year.. tonight they are going to feed us!

Pre-adventure

Hi, This is Sue!

Ok, so it's early to post in the pre adventure. With us, there is no doubt that there will be more adventures as the day wears on, but for now, I'll post that things are rolling smoothly.
Well, except that I'm not packed. Because laundry isn't done.
So things aren't as smooth as they should be..
But that's part of the adventure right?

So in the wee hours (and since any hour after midnight is wee, I'll clarify and tell you my wee in this case is going to be 5am) of tomorrow we will be heading to the airport to fly out to New Orleans, rent a car, and drive to Mississippi for a reunion with the friends we made during Hurricane Katrina last year.

We have a plane ticket in our hand, a rental car waiting, and that's about as far as our plan really goes. The rest we play by ear, so much to see and do in such a short amount of time..

So we will be taking a laptop and a camera and we are going to do our darndest(wow, that's a strange word isn't it?) to upkeep this post on a nightly basis.. so be prepared to read our ramblings and thoughts (for my thoughts often ramble as proved in this first post) during our adventure in MS.

We just got back from an adventure last night, we spent the night at an artists house who is a friend of ours, and we spent the whole next day melting glass and sharing laughs with fellow glass artists..

So keep an eye on us, where we go, interesting things tend to happen (although in all honesty, not always OUR fault that interesting things happen)
